Protection From And Removal Of Malware, Trojans And Viruses

From time-to-time, you may have to deal with potentially dangerous computer Viruses and Trojans, commonly known as Malware.

To help protect your systems and data we recommend that you:

  • Install and use comprehensive anti-virus software.
  • Follow and use safe internet practices.
  • Use a modern up-to-date computer operating system.
  • Only use a reputable secure browser, for example, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

It is also extremely important that you backup your computer regularly and especially before attempting to remove files and viruses as some processes may occasionally result in data loss.

Once you have installed anti-virus software immediately complete the following to ensure that your system is safe and protected.

  1. Check if there have been any recent updates for your newly installed anti-virus software.
  2. Run the software on your computer to help detect any potential issues.
  3. Remove any infected files from your computer.
  4. Restart your computer if required.

It is critical for all internet users to have adequate protection from viruses and malware threats.

AVG is free anti-virus software; find out more on the AVG website.
